Promoting Physical Activity on Campus
Exercise is Medicine on Campus (EIM-OC) is a global program led by the American College of Sports Medicine that calls on all universities to promote the health and well-being of campus stakeholders through physical activity. EIM-OC unites campus employee wellness centers, student wellness centers, campus recreation departments, healthcare providers, and kinesiology groups to establish a culture of physical activity and wellness on campus. The University of Iowa has been recognized as a Gold level EIM campus since 2020.
Students can get involved by enrolling in HHP:3820 Community Wellness Practicum: Exercise is Medicine. In this course, students are charged with designing and implementing programs that promote physical activity on campus. Students are able to leverage their creativity, story-telling, communication, and planning skills and have an opportunity to have a positive impact on the university campus.
